      The Flagler County School District has an amazing array of programs that make us proud, and one of our highlights is the Flagler Auditorium/Dennis Fitzgerald Center of Performing Arts. It is unique opportunities such as having the Flagler Auditorium on campus that will help us reach our goal of becoming the highest performing high school in the nation.
     This amazing facility gives our students the chance to hone their skills in Theater, Chorus, Band, and Dance. Additionally, students learn the intricacies of running a box office, lighting and sound systems, set design, and other back of the house operations. This experience helps our students excel through high school and embodies them with skills they will use beyond their years. Students earn scholarships, get accepted into top notch colleges and universities, and have the necessary skills to enter the workforce.
     The Fine Arts departments not only encompass the performing arts but the visual arts as well. They offer classes in drawing, painting, photography, cermaics and graphic design. The Flagler Auditorium provides a wonderful venue to showcase the talents of our students in this field.
     A recent article in Edutopia magazine reported that students who participate in the Fine Arts develop a multitude of skills that allow them to become well rounded, talented individuals. Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and Verbal Skills. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork. We see firsthand how the Arts impact our student’s achievement.
      It is the collaboration with the Flagler Auditorium and Flagler County Schools that help provide our community with excellence in entertainment. Please support the Flagler Auditorium, Flagler Palm Coast High School and Matanzas High School by attending upcoming performances. We look forward to seeing you there!
