Music Camp. The Spring Chorus Concert is also May 11th at 7:00pm at the Flagler Auditorium ~ Exciting news to share ! This June, three of Flagler Palm Coast High School’s Chorus members will join in song in Washington, DC with 80 other superior high school singers from across America. Caitlin Hannan, Jeff McDevitt, and Boyd Fulmer received word this month of their selection to this prestigious group. Presented by the National Association for Music Education (MENC), a National Honor Concert Band, Choir, Orchestra and Jazz Band will spotlight the accomplishments of superior student musicians from across the nation during Music Education Week in Washington, DC. Amy Fulmer, the choir director at Flagler Palm Coast High School, received an email earlier in the year from MENC inviting her students to audition for this inaugural event. Students sent in recorded auditions online that were scored by a National Honors task force appointed by MENC’s National Executive Board. “We are very excited about this event because all three of my students who auditioned were selected. We are also excited because we are the only school representing Florida” said Fulmer. The conductor for the 2010 National Honor Ensemble at the Kennedy Center will be Dr. Andre Thomas, director of choral activities at Florida State University. Students will be performing at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. All three of these students have been active in chorus for several years and have received superior ratings from the Florida Vocal Association in solo and ensemble assessments and have performed in numerous community performances. These talented students will be getting ready for their performance by learning the music and getting prepared, but right now they are concerned with raising enough money. Anyone wishing to help with the cost may send donations to Flagler Palm Coast High School, 5500 Hwy 100 E, Palm Coast, Florida with attention to the choral department’s Amy Fulmer ~ For more information, call 386-437-7540 ext. 4114 Ms. Fulmer or e-mail fulmera@flaglerschools.com or the Flagler Auditorium 386-437-7547.
